Library Rules
  • The Library is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and till 3.00 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Silence should be strictly maintained inside the Library. In case of any misdemeanour, the librarians are authorized to evict the person.
  • Carrying of bags, folders, personal books, magazines or any printed materials, food articles and drinks are strictly prohibited in the library.
  • Users are requested to note that they are allowed to take inside only one exercise book and a pen for making notes and their purse.
  • The Library reserves the right to search any personal items and does not accept liability for loss or damage of these items.
  • Every member must sign the register available at the entrance.
  • Students have to bear the Identity Card for entering the Library.
  • One bar-coded library card will be issued to each student.
  • All users have to produce their library cards at the time of borrowing documents.
  • A student may borrow 3 books at a time including day issue for photocopying.
  • Students may borrow subject reference books and fiction for 7 days. Subject reference books may not be renewed. Fiction may be renewed for another 7 days. Books borrowed should not be identical.
  • Books are issued on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 12.30 and 4.00 pm. Books may be returned on all days between 9.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
  • One book may be borrowed for photocopying between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m., to be returned on the same day before 12.30 p.m.
  • In case of delay in return of books an overdue fine of Rs.5.00 per working day will be charged.
  • CDs and DVDs may be borrowed on Friday between 10.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., to be returned on Monday by 12.30 p.m. A fine of Rs.10/- will be charged per day beyond the due date.
  • Books from Press and Press (Special) are meant for reference only and not to be issued.
  • Newspapers and magazines must be read only in the library and should not be taken out.
  • A book, once issued, should not be brought inside, unless it is to be returned.
  • Library cards are not transferable. If anyone is found using another’s library card, she will be debarred from using the library.
  • Borrower should be physically present in person for issue as well as return of books. Each student will be responsible for books borrowed in her library card.
  • Books borrowed from LORETO COLLEGE LIBRARY should not be passed on to any outsiders.
  • All books must be checked for damage/mutilation before borrowing. Any damage found should be reported to the librarians immediately.
  • In case of loss or damage of documents the price of the lost/damaged document + overdue fine, if any will be charged.
  • Any student found to have hidden a book or mutilated a book, would be debarred from the library.
  • All books (Reference & Fiction) must be returned and dues cleared before University Examinations.
  • Loss of library cards must be reported immediately.
  • A duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.50.00.
  • P.G. students may borrow books between 12.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. (Monday to Friday).
