Discussion Session on Communal Harmony
In their Value Education class with Teacher-in-Charge Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala on November 25, 2024, undergraduate students of Semester I at Loreto College, Kolkata discussed the topic of Communal Harmony. In India, Communal Harmony Week is observed from November 19 to 25 every year. Communal harmony refers to the peaceful coexistence of and mutual respect among different communities, cultures, and religions within a society. It is essential for fostering a sense of gratitude, understanding, and unity among people.
During the session, the students watched various advertisements related to the topic and exchanged ideas and viewpoints with one another-an exercise that gave them an opportunity to explore diverse perspectives on communal harmony. The importance of appreciating the cultures of all religions and recognising the value of living in a diverse country was emphasised. The session also highlighted the need to prioritise respect, empathy, and peace among individuals, regardless of their religious background, in order to maintain harmony and a sense of brotherhood within society.
