Anti-Ragging Orientation Session for UG Semester I Students

On September 30, 2024, the Anti-Ragging Cell of Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), conducted an Anti-Ragging Orientation Session for the Semester I students of the undergraduate programme. The session aimed to educate students about the implications and consequences of ragging, thereby fostering a safe and supportive environment within the college.

Faculty members of the Anti-Ragging Cell, Dr. Krishnokoli Hazra, Dr. Sanghita Sanyal, and Ms. Sulagna Chattopadhyay, provided an overview of the concept of ragging and outlined the redressal measures in place, as per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009. The students were informed that the college has established an Anti-Ragging Squad consisting of faculty members, the college counsellor, the student council heads, and class representatives. These individuals would serve as the first points of contact for all complaints pertaining to ragging. Contact details, including a helpline number and an email address, were also provided for student support.

UGC-mandated declaration forms were distributed at the end of the session, requiring signatures from both students and parents/guardians as part of a collective effort to maintain a ragging-free atmosphere in the college campus. The session served as a crucial step in raising awareness about the issue of ragging and the available mechanisms for support and redressal. By providing information and resources, Loreto College reaffirms its commitment to creating a safe and respectful educational environment for all students.
