Open Day 2024

The Loreto College Open Day was held on December 19, 2024. The Open Day has been a well-loved tradition of Loreto College, Kolkata, with NGOs, women entrepreneurs, and students of the college coming together to organise a fun fete for all. Organised by the Alumnae Association of Loreto College, Open Day not only offers ex-students an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their alma mater but also encourages entrepreneurship among women.

The event, which was conceived several years ago by the Loreto College Alumnae Association to encourage NGOs and women entrepreneurs, reached an unprecedented height this year with over a hundred stalls spread over the grounds and rooms of the college. Handmade items such as soaps, candles, coasters, stoles, crocheted bags and keychains, tote bags, jewellery, and clothing were sold alongside a wide range of food items. Face painting, mehndi, and nail art booths were a major hit among all. Games and food stalls were also set up by the various departments of the college. The W.E. Nature Society sold vermicompost and notebooks made with recycled paper.

A special feature of the Open Day this year was the prominent presence of the Loreto College Incubation Centre (LCIC). A special cell established to encourage entrepreneurship among current students, the LCIC has already assisted a number of start-ups by current students. Twenty students from the LCIC participated in the fete this year. The entire college wore a festive look as students, teachers, ex-students, family members, and friends of students came together on a sunny December day for fun and merriment.
