Ami-tea: A PG English Department Reunion

Organised on November 30, 2024, Ami-Tea was a reunion organised for the past pupils of the Postgraduate English section of Loreto College, Kolkata. The Postgraduate Department of English, inaugurated in 2016, is a relatively recent addition to the college that has grown in numbers and strengths over the years. The reunion high tea was particularly special because it was the first such event organised exclusively for the past pupils of the postgraduate programme.

The past students along with the teachers of the Department of English enjoyed moments of nostalgic recollection and delectable delicacies on a damp, drizzly November afternoon. Alumnae from the first batch of 2016 to the most recent batch of 2023 attended the event, highlighting the strong sense of community fostered by the department. The afternoon was marked by joyful laughs, wistful sighs, and Christmas tunes from the 80s and 90s that set the atmosphere for the upcoming holiday season.

A memorable highlight of the gathering was the widespread admiration for Dr. Sukanya Dasgupta's pesto-cheese sandwiches and Dr. Subhasree Basu's homemade chocolate and caramel cake, both of which received glowing praise from the attendees. The reunion tea concluded with a photograph session and the handing of gifts to the past students as tokens of love. The Ami-Tea was, in other words, a rather wholesome success!
