Kalakriti 2024



Kalakriti: An Amalgamation across Different Levels of Ability, the annual event organised by the Department of Psychology and the Psychology Society at Loreto College, Kolkata, was held on November 22, 2024. This year marked the 15th successful celebration of Kalakriti, bringing together differently abled individuals from seven special schools to showcase their diverse abilities.

Participants included students from Akshar, Behala Bodhayan, Manovikas Kendra, Mentaid, Noble Mission of South Calcutta, Reach, and ICanFlyy International School. The distinguished panel of judges included Mrs. Ratna Bhattacharya, an ex-faculty member of the Psychology Department of Loreto College, and Mrs. Mansi Sanghvi Bhayani, founder of Marga Wellness Studio.

Kalakriti 2024 began with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, which was followed by an opening dance and song by students of the Department of Psychology. The first off-stage event, Chitra Vichitra, was a creative cardboard photo frame designing event where the participants used stationery and handmade accessories to adorn the outlined pieces of cardboards provided to them. Moksh Jindal from Akshar, Payel Roy from Reach, and Sreemayee Banerjee from Noble Mission won the first, second, and third positions respectively.

In Rangrez, the second off-stage event, art pieces came to life without the help of traditional paint brushes. The winners were Susmita Dey from Behala Bodhayan, Debasish Sardar from Mentaid, and Shristi Mukhopadhyay from Akshar in the first, second, and third positions respectively.

The first on-stage event was Shabd Leela, where the participants either recited poems of their choice or performed a short role play dressed as the respective poets or the featured characters. The first position in this event was secured by Debangana Dasgupta from Noble Mission, the second position by Vyaan Bahety from Akshar, and the third position by Arya Banerjee from ICanFlyy International School.

In Taal Tarang, the participants put up a group dance performance on any song and dance style of their choice. The first place was secured by Manovikas Kendra, represented by Palak Agarwal, Anjali Mishra, Dwitaya Biswas, and Ishan Benerjee. Reach, represented by Sudeshna Mondal, Payel Roy, and Apeksha Prasad, featured in the second position. In the third place was Behala Bodhayan, represented by Srijita Giri, Rinki Pradhan, Shalini Chowdhury, and Meghna Dutta.

The last segment of the day was Swar Lehar, where participants performed songs in any language, with or without instruments. The winners for this event were Ryan Dcruze and Swapnil Kayal from Akshar, Gourab Roy from Manovikas Kendra, and Nikhil Sharma from Noble Mission in the first, second, and third positions respectively.

Kalakriti 2024 was a grand success as well as a heartfelt experience, leaving participants and students with fond memories.
