B.Ed. Teachers' Day Celebration

On September 6, 2024, the Semester III students of the Department of B.Ed. organised a Teachers’ Day programme to honour their professors, who are the guiding lights in their educational journey. The event began with a traditional Tilak ceremony and Aarti, symbolic gestures that honoured the teachers as beacons of wisdom. Handmade brooches were presented to the professors, each one crafted as a token of gratitude.

The formal programme commenced with an introduction, followed by the lighting of the lamp by Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala, the Acting Teacher-in-Charge, and Dr. Kaustuva Banerjee, the Head of the Department, as the students sang “Asatoma Sadgamaya.” A prayer service followed, including scripture readings and intercessory prayers that spoke of the strength and guidance teachers provide.

The main event then began with a Rabindra Nritya performance of the song “Megh Boleche Jabo Jabo,” a graceful expression of the ever-changing yet constant relationship between teachers and students. A vibrant medley celebrated the teacher-student journey with songs such as “Besabriyan”, “Ae Khuda”, and “Aashayein.” Each note echoed the power of hope and perseverance.

A touching recitation of the poem “My Teachers” reflected the students’ deep appreciation for their mentors. The teachers also participated in a game where they guessed the movie, song, and names of the actors. Their quick wit and joy lit up the room, creating a moment of connection between students and teachers.

The event reached a pinnacle of emotion as the students sang “You Raise Me” in tribute to their teachers. Their voices filled the room, resonating with gratitude for the guiding lights who had lifted them in their moments of need, much like the stars guiding travellers through uncharted territory.

The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony. Sr. Dr. Nirmala and Dr. Banerjee shared their reflections in words filled with sincerity and pride for their students.
