Yugmanthan Panel Discussion

On July 24, 2024, the Debating Society of Loreto College, Kolkata was invited to “Yugmanthan” – a panel discussion organised by the Debating Society and NSS Cell of Presidency University with the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047” and centring around the theme of “Lifestyle for Environment.” The moderator for the event was Dr. Tanwir Arshed from the Department of Political Science, Presidency University. There were eight panellists comprising students from the various departments of Presidency University. Each speaker was allotted 5 minutes to present their view on the given topic. The panellists eloquently spoke on the different aspects of the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, including global leadership, sustainable development, technology and economy, youth empowerment and education, and gender disparity. Initiatives and policies undertaken by the government, challenges lying ahead, key changes necessary, and the role of the youth were some of the important points that were discussed. Five students represented Loreto College at the event and actively participated in the discourse. They raised pertinent and thought-provoking questions which steered the panel forward. The students gained invaluable knowledge and got the opportunity to engage with brilliant minds from other prestigious colleges of the city.
