Communal Harmony Week 2023-24



The Leadership Training Service (LTS) Society of Loreto College, Kolkata celebrated Communal Harmony Week by conducting three events between January 11 and February 15, 2024. The first event was a sticker distribution drive. Students could purchase a sticker featuring a message promoting communal harmony for just ₹5. The Student Council ensured that every student from every department and year had the opportunity to obtain a sticker.

The second event was a Poster/Painting Competition that aimed to promote the importance of respecting traditions and celebrating cultural diversity to foster social unity. The participants were required to create a poster or painting based on the topic, “Respecting Tradition: A Colourful Journey towards Social Unity.” The timeline for this event was from January 11 to January 17, providing ample time for the participants to showcase their creativity and artistic skills. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation from artists of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, who presented their unique interpretations of the theme. The judges evaluated the entries based on their creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme, and the top three artists were awarded certificates of recognition by the Foundation of Communal Harmony.

The third event was an Essay Writing Competition that was organised with the aim of promoting communal harmony and youth empowerment. The competition offered two topics for the participants to choose from: “Art and Culture as Tools for Promoting Communal Harmony” and “Youth Empowerment’s Impact on Communal Harmony.” The participants were required to write an essay on either of the two topics within 350 words. The timeline for this event was from January 31 to February 15, giving the participants adequate time to write and submit their essays. The top three writers were rewarded with certificates by the Foundation of Communal Harmony. Overall, the event was a great success and helped to promote awareness about the importance of communal harmony and youth empowerment.
