Industrial visit to Keventer Agro Limited

The Department of Economics of Loreto College, Kolkata organised an industrial visit to the Keventer Agro Limited, located in Barasat, North 24 Parganas, on April 6, 2024. A batch of 21 students from Semester 6, accompanied by two faculty members, embarked on this excursion to gain useful insights into industrial operations.

Dr. Surajit Sarkar, DGM, Quality Assurance, Keventer Agro Limited and Mr. Manash Karmakar, Corporate HR, Metro Dairy, provided an overview of the production processes and addressed most of the queries raised by the students. After this brief interactive session, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Raha, Senior Manager, Supply Chain, Keventer Agro Limited, guided the students during a tour of the Dairy Division of the factory. He shared important insights about supply chain management of the dairy firm. The students were allowed special permission to witness the functioning of the milk processor, assembly line, cold storage facilities and were offered free samples of some of their dairy products at the end of the trip.

The excursion served as an enriching experience for the students as it bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Their active participation, with the accommodating responses from the factory personnels and the support provided by the professors contributed to the success of the visit. The experiential learning left a lasting impression as it highlighted the real life implications of the textual theories.
