National Pollution Prevention Day 2023

On December 4, 2023, the Department of Economics, in collaboration with IQAC, organized an Expert Talk and Poster-Making Competition in observance of Nation Pollution Prevention Day 2023. The theme was Green Energy and Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects.

The event started with a welcome address by Dr Debika Guha, the Officiating Principal of the college. This was followed by an illustrious lecture on Green Energy and Sustainable Development Goals by the resource person Dr Swati Nandi Chakraborty, Associate Professor, Department of Life Sciences, Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology. Her profound deliberations on challenges in Green Energy adoption, innovations in that field and related government policies and regulations, followed by an interactive session, helped the students gain valuable insights on such significant issues.

In the second half of the event, the Poster-Making Competition was judged by Dr. Debasree Sinha, a faculty member of the Department of Geography, Loreto College. This competition saw a participation of seven teams from the Department of Economics constituting students of all three years. Team E, comprising of Purvi Gupta and Hritoja Karmakar, was declared as the winning team.
