Rudimentary Financial Management for Women

On September 29, 2023, a Talk titled Rudimentary Financial Management for Women organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, was a resounding success, providing attendees with valuable insights into personal finance, investment strategies and prudent financial management. With Dr. Gargi Chatterjee, an experienced financial advisor and seasoned Chartered Accountant, as its resource person, the Talk aimed to address the growing need for financial education among the college students. In an era of economic complexity and financial challenges, equipping individuals with sound financial literacy is crucial for their future financial well-being.
The seminar featured a comprehensive agenda that covered various aspects of financial literacy, such as - introduction to financial literacy, importance of financial literacy and basic financial concepts. Various other subjects were delved on such as - budgeting and saving, managing income and expenses, creating a personal budget and strategies for saving money. The students were introduced to and educated about investing, a discussion was held on - investing and financial planning, introduction to investing, types of investments and long-term financial planning. Dr. Chatterjee further delved on the risks one could face. She delved into topics such as - financial risks and insurance, identifying financial risks, the role of insurance, risk management strategies, responsible borrowing and debt management. Furthermore, she also elaborated on the types of loans and credit, understanding interest rates, managing and reducing debt.
It was a significant step towards equipping our students with essential financial knowledge. It not only addressed their immediate financial concerns but also laid the foundation for a financially secure future.
