Talk on Artificial Intelligence and the Future Ahead

A talk on ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Future Ahead’ was organized in Loreto College, Kolkata on September 14, 2023 for the undergraduate students of the third year. The event was facilitated by Ms. Trisha Poddar, an ex-student of the college. The resource person for the event was Professor Alok Negi, Assistant Professor at UPES University, Dehradun and a specialist in the up-and-coming field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

Professor Negi began his talk by drawing attention to the widespread use of AI in a variety of fields during the Covid-19 pandemic. He offered a brief theoretical lesson on the types of data and the processes involved in creating and training AI. A recurring theme that emerged during the talk was the ubiquity of AI and its increasing use in nearly every industry, making it imperative for all individuals to learn about AI and its implementation.

The talk was accompanied by an interactive session during which Professor Negi and Ms. Poddar took questions from the audience. They addressed queries regarding the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT and their drawbacks. The event broadened the students’ awareness of the changing world around them and the urgent need to adapt to new developments.
