Ecolore

On April 23, 2022 the Department of Economics organised ECOLORE, an inter-collegiate academic fest. Since its inception in 2014, the rich legacy of ECOLORE has expanded every year, leading to the anticipated 8th edition, post-pandemic. This year’s theme was ‘Gender Equity: A Potential Roadmap for Sustainable Development in the Post-Pandemic Era’. The keynote speaker this year was Prof. Rumki Basu, of Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. Prof. Basu emphasized how women’s equality is taken for granted in our country, even though our Constitution was one of the first in the post-colonial world to include gender equal rights. Her address highlighted the importance of progressive public policies and good governance to bridge the gender gap.

Colleges from across the city participated in paper presentation, essay writing and a debate. The first and third positions in essay writing were taken by Scottish Church College, while Maulana Azad College placed second. In the paper presentation, Loreto College bagged the first position, followed by Maulana Azad College in second place and St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College in third place. In the debate, Loreto College won the Best Speaker for the motion, while Gokhale Memorial Girl’s College won the Best Speaker against the motion. The award for the Best Team was shared by Scottish Church College and Loreto College.
