National Pollution Prevention Day

The Department of Economics in collaboration with the IQAC, Loreto College organized a web talk, a play, and an audio-visual presentation in observance of National Pollution Prevention Day on December 2, 2021. The platform was Google Meet. The resource person for the web talk was Prof. Basab Chaudhuri, Senior Director, Kalyan Bharati Trust. His talk was followed by a play entitled ‘An Uncharted Earth Sans Green,’ enacted by the students of Semester 3. The students of Semester 3 also prepared an audio-visual presentation titled ‘Pollution – Humanity’s Deadweight Loss.’ The department embarked on this initiative to commemorate National Pollution Prevention Day to sensitize the students as well as the other participants on how to look at the looming problem of pollution, which is immensely detrimental to the sustenance of life on Earth. The initiative was able to help students understand the importance of ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’ through the lens of prevention. The web talk was highly enriching and informative. The play focused on fictional stories to inspire everyone to prevent and control pollution. The audio-visual presentation was insightful and offered an economic perspective. The event was able to develop a strong sense of responsibility among the students, encouraging them to play a pivotal role in preventing pollution.
