Web Talk on Career Prospects of Financial Economics

A Web Talk titled 'Career Prospects of Financial Economics' was organized by the Department of Economics for the students of the department on April 13, 2021. The resource person of the Web Talk was Dr. Sitanshu Khatua, Associate Professor of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. The introductory speech was delivered by Mr. Mainak Bhattacharya followed by Sr. Dr. Christine Coutinho's welcome address. The main objective of the Web Talk was to enlighten the students on theoretical and empirical issues of Financial Economics and help students to identify the career prospects both in the academic as well as corporate field. Dr. Khatua initiated his discussion by throwing some light on the opportunities available in the field of Financial Economics and then discussed some theoretical aspects of Financial Economics citing some real-life examples. The lecture was very informative, insightful and enriching. Dr. Khatua interacted with the students throughout his lecture through interactive questions and responses which inspired the students and there was active participation by the students. The students were able to grasp the core concepts of Financial Economics and developed ideas about the varied range of professional courses that one can pursue after graduation in this field. This was an eye-opener for the faculty members as well. The session ended with a very effective question-answer session. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Suranjana Mitra.
