Aspects of Tragedy: 24 February, 2021

Student presentations by IIIrd Year English Honours students (Semester 5)
9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Report:

Seven presentations were made under the supervision of Dr. Sukanya Dasgupta, Associate Professor, Dept. of English on a range of texts from Greek, Elizabethan, Jacobean, Neo Classical and Modern Tragedy. Particular plays were analysed critically and with theoretical underpinnings. Comparisons were also made between different papers to establish a connecting thread among the presentations. Each paper was accompanied by Powerpoint presentations. The webinar was conducted via Google Meet. The presentations offered a rich variety of texts and contexts ranging from an analysis of the theme of disease in Greek Tragedy to symbolism in a modern tragedy like Henrik Ibsen’s The Wild Duck.
