The Impact of Covid 19 Pandemic on the Mental Health of People

The Department of Education organized an Inter- Semester Students’ Panel Discussion on ‘The Impact of Covid 19 Pandemic on the Mental Health of People’ in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Loreto College on January 28, 2021 from 3.30 p.m. IST onwards. The platform for the discussion was Google Meet. The audience comprised of students from the Departments of Education, Loreto College, Kolkata.

The objectives of the Panel Discussion were to highlight the disastrous effect of the Pandemic on the mental health of people as well as the need to develop necessary coping strategies and skills. The participating students were Ms. Sorralyn Williams and Ms. Saima Siddique from Semester III and Ms. Sonakshi Dutta and Ms. Anmol Sureka from Semester V.

The Moderator for the Discussion was Dr. Subhasree Basu Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Loreto College. The participating students were able to highlight both positive and negative impact of the COVID Pandemic on the mental health of Elderly people, women and students. They put forth their arguments using case studies. Ms. Sorralyn Wiilliams was declared the Best Speaker while Semester V participants were declared the Best Group. The Coordinator for the discussion was Dr. Ranjana Banerjee, Associate Professor, Department of Education. The discussion was attended by and received active participation of students from the Departments of Education.
