The session commenced with an introduction to first aid, its importance, and the basic principles that guide effective response in emergency situations. The resource persons elaborated on different types of bleeding and the appropriate techniques to control them both directly by applying pressure on the bleeding spot using a finger or palm and indirectly by using a tourniquet, which should be applied six fingers above the elbow or eight fingers above the knee, for a maximum of 20 minutes.

To manage skull bleeding, the resource persons emphasised on how pressure should be applied for 5–15 minutes while securing a bandage. In cases of shock, the resource persons emphasised the fact that raising both legs above heart level will help increase blood circulation to the heart and brain. The workshop emphasized the following blood donation guidelines: eligible age: 18–65 years, minimum weight: 45 kg, frequency: Blood can be donated every three months, and the standard donation volume: 250–300 ml per session. The resource persons then explained recovery position and distress management, wound management, fractures and their management.
