Training of Trainers for RRC Peer Educators
On March 13, 2025, two volunteers from the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Loreto College, Kolkata, Meghna Ghosh and Rashmeet Kaur, participated in a "Training of Trainers" (TOT) for Red Ribbon Club (RRC) Peer Educators at Swasthya Bhawan. The training was organised by the West Bengal State AIDS Prevention and Control Society (WBSAP&CS), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
The session was conducted by Dr. Prasenjit Dey, who provided in-depth knowledge on HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention strategies, stigma reduction, and the role of peer educators in spreading awareness. The training focused on effective ways to educate communities, counter misinformation, and promote safe practices. Various interactive discussions, group activities, and case studies helped participants enhance their communication and outreach skills.
A special highlight of the event was a visit by the General Secretary of WBSAP&CS, Department of Health & Family Welfare, who encouraged the participants and emphasised the importance of youth leadership in health education and social awareness.
The volunteers gained valuable insights that will help them contribute to HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives in their college and community. The session was an enriching experience, reinforcing the crucial role of young leaders in public health advocacy.
Dr. Subhasree Basu, the Programme Officer of the Loreto College NSS Unit, also attended a training programme organised on March 7, 2025.
