Commemorating World Meteorological Day 2025: Inter-College Poster and Photography Competition

To commemorate World Meteorological Day on March 23, 2025, the Department of Geography, Loreto College, Kolkata, in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Nirmala College, Ranchi, organised an Inter-College Poster and Photography Competition. The event aimed to raise awareness about meteorological phenomena and their impact on the environment through creative expression. The theme for World Meteorological Day 2025 was 'Closing the Early Warning Gap Together.'

A total of 15 entries were received for the Poster Competition and 11 for the Photography Competition. Participants showcased their artistic and photographic skills, interpreting themes related to meteorology, climate change, and environmental conservation.

The competition was judged by esteemed experts in their respective fields. Dr. Aritra Khettry, National Lead for Elephant Conservation at WWF India, and Mr. Sanjay Bose, a renowned photographer and faculty member of Mass Communication at Ranchi University, evaluated the entries. Their expertise provided valuable insights into the creativity, relevance, and execution of the participants' works.

The event was a resounding success, fostering inter-college engagement and encouraging students to express their perspectives on climate and environmental issues through visual media. The winners were felicitated with certificates recognising their artistic and conceptual excellence.

Such initiatives continue to inspire young minds to contribute to environmental awareness and sustainability through their creative endeavours.
