Boshonto Utsab 2025
On March 21, 2025, Loreto College, Kolkata, celebrated Boshonto Utsab, embracing the spirit of spring—a season symbolizing renewal, rebirth, and growth. This year's festivities were particularly special, coinciding with World Poetry Day, allowing the college community to honor both nature's poetry and literary arts.
The celebration commenced with a rendition of Thumri by Damayanti Dubey, an alumna of the college. The narrative unfolded through a skit depicting the Rasleela, the traditional Vrindavanai festival of Holi, portraying the timeless love between Radha and Krishna. Integrating Rabindranath Tagore's "Bhanusingher Padabali" and an excerpt from his musical "Boshonto" enriched the thematic essence, weaving a tapestry of colors and melodies.
Students from various semesters showcased their talents through harmonious songs and rhythmic dances, immersing the audience in joy and ecstasy. Faculty members actively participated, joining students in the exuberant celebrations. The event culminated with the playful smearing of colors, reinforcing the themes of unity and the beauty of nature.
The success of Boshonto Utsab was made possible by the unwavering support and guidance of the Staff Advisors of the Eastern Cultural Society and the collaborative efforts of the college community. The echoes of laughter, music, and camaraderie continue to resonate, leaving lasting memories in the hearts of all who participated.
