National Youth Day 2025
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Loreto College, Kolkata celebrated National Youth Day by organising three consecutive events spanning over three days, from January 11 to 13, 2025.
The NSS unit organised a fun event called "Happy Hearts" for thirty children from four shelter Homes across the city. Games and fun activities were organised for them at the college lawn, and the children were given school kits and refreshments sponsored by two former students of the college. This event was conceived keeping in mind Swami Vivekananda's emphasis on service as well as physical activities for a healthy society.
A blanket collection drive was conducted in the college from January 3 to 10, 2025, and the blankets were distributed to the homeless and the needy by the NSS volunteers in observance of National Youth Day.
The final event was an inspirational talk delivered by Swami Vishwadyananda Ji from Swami Vivekananda's Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Kolkata. Attended by almost two hundred students, the lecture centred on the concept of 'Shiva Gyane Jiva Seva' or service in the form of worship. Swami Vishwadyananda Ji concluded his lecture with a short meditation session for the students.
