Workshop on "Unlocking Opportunities in the Social Sector"
The Placement Cell of Loreto College, in collaboration with Teach For India, organized an insightful and enriching workshop on 'Unlocking Opportunities in the Social Sector' on 7th March 2025. The session was specifically designed for the final-semester students of the Department of B.Ed., offering them a deeper understanding of the transformative role of education in shaping society.
The esteemed resource person for the workshop was Ms. Riiei Maia Khogwir, Branding, Partnership, and Sourcing Manager of the Eastern Zone, Teach For India. She was warmly introduced by Dr. Mitra, who highlighted the significance of the session in broadening the perspectives of aspiring educators.
Ms. Khogwir delivered a compelling presentation that underscored the urgent need for educational reform in India. Through a well-structured PowerPoint presentation, she provided alarming yet thought-provoking data on the state of learning, the condition of children in education, and the challenges faced by schools. Her insights illuminated the pressing issues in the education sector and demonstrated how Teach For India has been making a tangible difference in bridging these gaps.
She further encouraged students to consider the Teach For India Fellowship, illustrating how it serves as a platform for dedicated individuals to contribute meaningfully to the field of education. She also shared inspiring stories of students from our very own institution who have previously undertaken the fellowship, thereby reinforcing the impact and reach of this initiative.
The session was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, leaving the attendees with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. It provided valuable insights into how educators can play a pivotal role in bringing about social change and reform.
The workshop concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to Ms. Khogwir for her time, expertise, and encouragement. She was presented with a token of appreciation on behalf of the college.
