Library Society is the youngest of all the societies of Loreto College as it was formed on 23rd February 2009. The activities of the society are not restricted to any particular sphere. It is not merely located behind the walls of the library. It is a store house of art, culture and information. The mission is to provide resources and organize activities that will assist students in fostering a love for reading and developing a pattern of life-long learning, enabling them to become effective users of information in today’s knowledge based society. Though a new society it has organized a number of events such as book review writing, book drive in which books were collected and distributed to the underprivileged children, collage making competitions in order to celebrate Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray’s 150th birth anniversary and William Carey’s 250th birth anniversary, bookmark making competitions, guest lectures, published newsletter, book cover designing and presentation competitions during Samagam, etc. It has been planning to conduct new events for the students and will continue to work towards excellence.
