Awareness Talk on Blood Donation
An Awareness Talk on Blood Donation was successfully conducted on September 9, 2024 at Loreto College, Kolkata. The event, organised by the Social Service Society in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, aimed to educate participants about the significance of blood donation, its benefits, and its crucial role in saving lives. The session was led by Mrs. Keya Sinha, a distinguished expert in social services and blood donation.
The event was attended by first-year students, staff advisors, and society office bearers. Mrs. Sinha provided detailed insights into how blood donation works, the eligibility criteria, and the step-by-step process involved. Her presentation effectively dispelled common misconceptions and alleviated fears surrounding the procedure. Students were also informed about the health benefits of donating blood, including improved cardiovascular health, and the broader societal impact of their contributions. The speaker emphasised the moral responsibility of assisting those in need and highlighted the importance of community service.
The session concluded with practical guidance on how attendees could register as blood donors and the recommended frequency for safe blood donations. The event was met with positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the clarity and comprehensiveness of the information shared. Many participants expressed their interest in becoming blood donors. The Blood Donation Awareness Talk successfully achieved its goal of disseminating essential knowledge and encouraging members of the college community to contribute to this life-saving cause.
