Feminisia 2024
The Leadership Training Service (LTS) Society of Loreto College, Kolkata, under the guidance of Father John Rogers, participated in Feminisia, which was held on March 16, 2024 in celebration of International Women’s Day. The two-part event was conducted in two locations: the morning segment at the Nirmala Shishubhavan and the noon segment at the LTS Centre. The students formed organising committees with different portfolios such as Finance, Event Management, Human Resources, and many more, and fulfilled their responsibilities diligently.
In the first part of the event, students from Loreto College and Shri Shikshayatan College spent an hour with the special girl children of Nirmala Shishubhavan, singing and dancing along with them. They felicitated all the sisters and female caretakers of the Shishubhavan in appreciation of the relentless service they provide to the special children. They also donated food items and cut a cake with the children. This was followed by a visit to the Mother House, where the tomb of Mother Teresa is located. The students learned about Mother Teresa’s life and journey, which inspired an entire generation. The primary objectives of this event were to appreciate the unwavering commitment of women in the field of social service and to engage students in a collaborative effort, fostering social responsibility and the spirit of community service.
The latter half of the event, which was held at the LTS Centre, consisted of a group discussion, TED talks, and fun group-bonding activities involving the participants. An evaluation was also conducted, with participants sharing their experiences during the visit to the Nirmala Shishubhavan. The open group discussion focused on the role of women in uplifting women, and it gave the participants an opportunity to voice their opinions, talk about their female role models, and share their vision of what they would contribute to society as educated women. During the TED talk round, participants came up and shared their achievements in life, which enabled them to appreciate themselves and each other better. The event ended with a bonding session where each participant wrote kind and motivating letters to one another.
