Online Poster-Making Competition: Psychology Society
Self-harm is a serious issue that affects individuals of all ages and backgrounds. It can manifest in various forms and is often used as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions or psychological pain. To raise awareness about this pressing concern, an online poster-making competition was organized by the Psychology Society of Loreto College from March 24 to April 2, 2023.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students, who showcased their artistic skills and creativity in conveying a powerful message. The posters were evaluated on the basis of their effectiveness in conveying the message, originality, and artistic merit.
Sneha Bhunia of the Department of English secured the first position, followed by Shinjini Dey and Tannishtha Sengupta of the Department of Psychology who secured the positions of first and second runners-up respectively. Dr. Bonny Ghosh and Dr. Sukanya Dasgupta were the judges of the competition.
The poster-making competition successfully raised awareness about self-harm and encouraged individuals to seek help when struggling with emotional distress. It highlighted the importance of breaking the silence surrounding self-harm and promoting empathy, understanding, and support for those affected. Through creative expression and education, the competition served as a powerful tool in promoting mental health and well-being in the community.
