Vriksha Raksha Bandhan
An initiative by Loreto College in collaboration with MGNCRE
Theme: Vriksha Raksha Bandhan
Vriksha Raksha Bandhan is an initiative taken by MGNCRE (Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education) in collaboration with the NSS (National Service Scheme) of Loreto College. Students acknowledged the importance of nature as they tied a thread around their green friends symbolizing a bond of unity. Through this initiative the students vowed to protect nature, just like one vows to protect their siblings. Their activities included making a rakhi using sustainable material (like fabric, thread, jute etc.) and tying the rakhi to an old tree, a plant or a sapling. Celebrating the festival of Vriksha Rakhsha Bandhan, Sister Christine Coutinho, the Principal of the College, planted a sapling in the Loreto College back lawn marking the institution's reverence and admiration towards nature.
