Lipika Kankaria (B. Ed. Batch of 2016-18) presented the action research conducted by her in Loreto House as part of the B. Ed. curriculum of Calcutta University in the Research Cell presentation on
1st December, 2018 . The title of the action research was ’Common problems in understanding the use of prepositions’.

The topic of the action research was chosen after observing few common errors that were being repeated by the students. The objective of the action research was to identify the existing level of understanding
among the students and to identify the areas which needed to be addressed. After comprehending the difficulties of the students, suitable strategies were devised like use of visual aids and classroom
activities to help them get a better understanding of the concepts. Three classes were planned in a way that the concepts taught were from easy to difficult level so that the students could grasp the fundamentals easily. Finally an achievement test was taken to test the progress from the initial stage to the present stage. The outcome was a positive one as the students showed better understanding in the use of prepositions.
