Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Workshop
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024, the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) conducted a workshop titled “Let’s SWAG: Salute Women Across Generations” at Fairfield, Rajarhat. The objective of the workshop was to celebrate women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements by promoting awareness about ‘equity’ more than ‘equality’ to ensure gender parity. Eight students from the Department of Political Science, Loreto College, Kolkata participated in this workshop, along with students representing various other eminent institutions across the city.
The workshop commenced with an inspiring keynote address, setting the tone for the day’s discussions. Presentations by students of several colleges and universities covered diverse topics, including “Depicting Woman Then and Now: Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress,” “Balancing Laws and Life: Inclusive and Diverse Workspaces,” “Existing Gender Inclusive Laws in Workplace and Educational Institutions,” and “Role of Youth in Meme Culture.” Madhubanti Chowdhury (Department of Political Science, Semester VI) from Loreto College participated in the students’ panel.
The workshop incorporated interactive elements, including small group activities centred around case studies and practical exercises designed to simulate real-world leadership challenges. This facilitated not only knowledge exchange but also the development of practical skills. Participants had the opportunity to network with peers and professionals from diverse backgrounds. This fostered connections and laid the groundwork for potential collaborations beyond the workshop. The workshop proved to be a resounding success, encouraging and empowering the emerging leaders of the current generation to be more active, efficient, and resilient in their future endeavours.
