Know Your Rights - Awareness Session by the Internal Complaints Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Loreto College, Kolkata organised a special awareness session entitled “Know Your Rights” on May 27, 2024 for the students of Semester II. The session was conducted by Advocate Sonakshi Mitra, who introduced the students to the concept of the workplace and the importance of feeling safe at one’s workplace. It was emphasised that the college, being a space of everyday attendance, also qualified as a workplace. Ms. Mitra discussed the safety measures that can be implemented before and immediately after any unforeseen and untoward incident happens within the college premises and shared instructions on how to reach the ICC helpline. In addition, she spoke at length about the various Acts recognising and upholding the rights of women as citizens, particularly their right to safety. The event was also attended by the faculty members who are members of the ICC, viz. Mrs. Sharmila Ray Kumam, Ms. Srijita Chakravarty, Dr. Sanghita Sanyal, and Advocate Sonali Ghosh Panda.
