Workshop on Research Methodology for PG Students of English

On May 11, 2024, a research methodology workshop for the post-graduate students of English was organised by the Department of English in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Loreto College, Kolkata. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Somdatta Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kharagpur. It aimed to impart basic and advanced insights into the most common forms of research projects taken up by students of Literature. Dr. Bhattacharya discussed various ways to frame research arguments and premises and theorise the available data. She also shared a number of useful and interesting techniques of collecting and storing data for reference. The workshop concluded with a hands-on session on research tools and citation techniques. The students who attended the workshop felt highly motivated to apply their training by taking up short and independent research projects.
