Workshop on AI Tools Attended by Loreto College Faculty

On March 23, 2024, an online workshop on “Basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools for Educators” was held, followed by another workshop on March 17, 2024, on “Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools for Educators.” These workshops were organised for teachers by IGNITE Life Skill Academy, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Kochi, in association with the Computer Department of Loreto College, Kolkata. The workshops were facilitated by Father Sabu Thomas, who shared his expertise on various AI tools and their applications in educational settings.

Father Sabu Thomas began the workshops by introducing the participants to the fundamentals of AI, highlighting its significance in modern education. He elucidated the concept of AI and its role in revolutionising teaching and learning methodologies. A key highlight of the workshops was the exploration of several AI tools tailored for educators. Father Sabu Thomas introduced the participants to platforms such as ChatGPT, ChatPDF, Gamma.app, AskYourPDF, and Voice Interpreter, among others. He elaborated on their functionalities and demonstrated how these tools can be effectively integrated into teaching practices.

Throughout the workshops, Father Sabu Thomas emphasised the practical implications of utilising AI tools in the classroom, underscoring their potential to enhance teaching efficiency, student engagement, and learning outcomes. As the sessions concluded, participants expressed appreciation for the valuable insights gained and the practical knowledge acquired. They left the workshops equipped with a deeper understanding of AI and its applications in education, ready to incorporate these innovative tools into their teaching practices to foster enhanced learning experiences for their students.
