Dialego 2024



The Department of Political Science, Loreto College, Kolkata convened the annual students’ meet on April 5, 2024, known as 'Dialego'. This year's theme, "Emerging India in a Multipolar World Order," had set the stage for an engaging exploration of India's evolving position on the global stage.
Dialego 2024 encompassed a full-day program comprising of a diverse array of on-stage activities like 'Inter-college Paper Presentation', 'Inter-college Debate Competition' and the two off-stage events viz. PicTale’ and the 'Policy Brief’. The programme commenced with an inaugural session led by Sr. Nirmala, the Sister-in-Charge, followed by an opening dance performance, which set an auspicious tone for the proceedings.
The initial segment of Dialego 2024 featured the Inter-college Paper Presentation, graced by esteemed judges Mrs. Kaveri Dutt, Dr. Sujata Chowdhury, and moderator Ms. Astha Agarwal. Neha Nandi from Lady Brabourne College and Meghna Bhattacharya from Loreto College were recognized as the Best Speakers, with Lady Brabourne College securing the top position for the event.
The latter half of Dialego 2024 witnessed the Inter-college Debate Competition, involving participants from six colleges, including the host institution. The debate, adjudicated by Mr. S.V. Raju Raman and Mr. Shiladitya Saha, alongside moderator Mrs. Julie Banerjee Mehta, had the motion, "This House believes that China’s dominant presence in world politics will jeopardize India’s emergence as a global power in the Multipolar world order." Scottish Church College emerged as the Best Team, with individual awards bestowed upon Agnik Bhattacharya (Scottish Church College) and Sammriddhi Sharma (Loreto College) for their exemplary performances.
In parallel, the off-stage events unfolded, notably 'PicTale,' overseen by Mr. Shiladitya Saha. Participants engaged in creative storytelling, utilizing visual imagery to depict socio-political themes. Loreto College secured the accolade for the Best Team in PicTale. Concurrently, the 'Policy Brief' competition witnessed commendable participation, with Madhubanti Chowdhury clinching the top position, alongside joint runner-ups Neha Nandi (Lady Brabourne College) and Sneha Banik (Loreto College).
Dialego 2024, culminated with the distribution of certificates to participants. The day long series of events fostered an environment conducive to exchange of ideas, intellectual enrichment, and collaborative engagement. It served as a platform for knowledge dissemination and networking, leaving an indelible mark on participants and attendees alike, reaffirming its significance in fostering academic discourse and scholarly pursuits.
