Department of B.Ed.: Quiz on 22 Languages Mentioned in the Constitution of India
On October 17, 2023, the teacher-trainees of the Department of B.Ed., Loreto College, Kolkata organized a lively and educational quiz on the languages recognized by the Indian Constitution in Class 7B of St. Teresa’s Secondary School. Students were divided into four groups according to their houses: Charity, Faith, Loyalty, and Peace. The quiz was meticulously conducted with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation that displayed the rules and questions. The quiz comprised three rounds: the first with 8 questions, the second with 12, and the final with 4. An unexpected tie between Charity and Peace houses resulted in a sudden-death question. Charity house emerged victorious, with Peace being a close second, followed by Loyalty and Faith.
All the participating groups received beautifully crafted bookmarks, each with a unique Hogwarts house theme. These bookmarks served a dual purpose: they celebrated the ranks achieved in the quiz and offered students a keepsake to remember the event. The bookmarks were thoughtfully designed and prepared by the teacher-trainees.
The event was a grand success, owing to the active participation and enthusiasm of the students. It fostered knowledge and awareness not only of the 22 languages mentioned in the Indian Constitution but also of the rich linguistic diversity and heritage of our country.
