Anti-Ragging Awareness Session
On September 7, 2023, the Anti-ragging Cell of Loreto College, Kolkata conducted an awareness session for the newly admitted first-year undergraduate students. The session sought to underscore the institution’s commitment to maintaining a ragging-free environment and fostering a culture of mutual respect, inclusivity, and empathy. The students were introduced to the members of the Anti-ragging Cell: faculty members Dr. Sanghita Sanyal and Ms. Sulagna Chattopadhyay, the Student President Khadeeja Jamil, and the Student Vice President Harshita Sharma. The College Principal, Sr. Dr. Christine Coutinho, and the College Counsellor, Dr. Veena Podder, were also present during the session.
The members of the Anti-ragging Cell emphasized the institution’s stringent and rigorously enforced policy of zero tolerance towards all forms of ragging, bullying, and harassment. Students were made aware of the robust support systems available for victims and the strict disciplinary measures taken against perpetrators. Finally, open communication was encouraged in order to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere conducive to learning and personal growth.
