Field trip to RBI Museum

With a view to offer deep cognitive learning beyond classroom facts and concepts, a field trip to RBI Museum, Kolkata was organized by the Department of Economics on February 16, 2023. The third year students of the Department who took part in the trip were accompanied by the Head of the Department, Dr Rupa Ghosh and Professor Mainak Bhattacharya. During the entire trip the students were introduced to the history and operations of RBI by Mr Arindam Sen, Assistant Manager, RBI Museum. A screening of a documentary on the central bank’s evolution was followed by a short informative session on employment opportunities at RBI by a team from the main office. The trip provided an opportunity for the students to explore the mutual co-existence of state-of-the art technology and antique machineries in different sections of the museum. Interactive displays and engaging games especially designed for young visitors as a part of this highly informative trip, were enjoyed by all the students.
