Visit To The Scottish Cemetery

The Second and Third Year History Honours students were taken to the Scottish Cemetery on December 6, 2022. The students looked around the different kinds of graves some of which were vertical constructions and therefore more easily visible. They could get an idea about the demography of Calcutta, the life expectancy and the influential Scotsmen residing in the city in the nineteenth century. The students were highly impressed to see the landscape which has been recently designed to encourage amenity planting and bio-diversity. The Guide at the Cemetery explained that the restoration has transformed the site into a clean, green and urban space for the benefit of the city and local residents.
