Special Lecture: Human Rights Department

A Special Lecture titled Unravelling Man’s Life and Society : A Qualitative Discourse was delivered by Suvendu Maji, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, University of Calcutta on November 25, 2022.. The talk was attended by semester 1 and 3 students of the Human Rights Department.

The objective of the lecture was to teach the students how to conduct a qualitative study where the relationship between the researcher and participants is often less formal than in a quantitative research. The qualitative research method is applied to comprehend people’s beliefs, experiences, attitudes, behaviour and interactions within, between and among groups. The talk endeavoured to portray the different anthropological methods, their strength and weaknesses that help to understand complex human rights questions.
