Special Talk on Decentralisation and Fiscal Federalism
The Department of Economics in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a talk titled Decentralisation and Fiscal Federalism: The Contemporary Indian Experience on November 9, 2022. As India, the federation, celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating its 75th anniversary of Independence, this special talk was an attempt to enlighten students on the evolution and the tumultuous yet inspiring journey of self-governance in India. The resource person was the esteemed academician Dr Ambar Nath Ghosh, Professor, Jadavpur University. The second and third year students of the department actively participated in the session as they were exposed to the nuances of economic philosophies behind the world democracies by Dr Ghosh. In his erudite lecture, the distinguished speaker also highlighted on the evolving contours of Indian policy making and governance, which was an enriching experience for the teachers and students alike.
