Media Neutrality- A Global Myth: Interactive Session with Mr. Kanchan Gupta

The media is considered to be the fourth pillar of any democracy, which acts as the watchdog to ensure a healthy relationship among the constituent elements of the state. In acknowledgement of the key role of media, Loreto College hosted Mr. Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Information Broadcasting for an interactive session on September 24, 2022. The subject of discussion was Media Neutrality- A Global Myth. Tracing the evolution of media to its present form, Mr. Gupta elaborated on how the media has never been neutral; from the age of Pharaohs and their scribes to the competitive media of today. Mr. Gupta's incomparable experience as a journalist shone through the trajectory of the talk and the interactive session that followed. The virtual programme had participants from colleges across the country, with whom Loreto College has signed MoUs.
