TCS: Youth Employment Programme
On August 2, 2022 Mr Bhaskar from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) made a presentation on the TCS Youth Employment Programme (YEP) for the third year students . The TCS YEP was launched to provide the youth with exposure to industry needs and equip them with skills for employment in the corporate sector, government, and other MSMEs. This enhances the availability of a talent pool for the industry and increases diversity while ensuring gender parity.
The YEP involves training students for 100 hrs, 2 hrs online and 4-6 hrs offline per day. For the online training the student would have to attend 2 hrs classes a day for 45 days and cover 90 hrs of training. After successful completion of training, the students are to appear for the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) . This provides students the opportunity to be placed in various sectors with TCS or other industries. Since the launch of YEP through NQT the Company has successfully placed the young in over 50,000 jobs in BPO/ITES, 24,000 jobs in BFSI and over 15000 jobs in other industries. Enrolment for this programme focusses on the unprivileged and young women.
The response to Mr Bhaskar’s presentation was encouraging and ended with the hope that TCS would be conducting the YEP at the earliest for students of Loreto College.
