Interactive Session with Mr Derek O Brien
The students of Loreto College experienced a much-awaited online interactive session with Mr. Derek O’Brien, Hon’ble Member of the Parliament, on the 24th of June, 2020. O’Brien, who addressed the United Nations General Assembly and authored over 60 books, held a session regarding the changes that the Corona Virus brought to the human population. The topic of the discussion, as decided by Mr. O’Brien was ‘BC to AD’ (Before Corona to After Disease). The discussion unfurled several impacts and ideas regarding the virus in the young minds of the students of Loreto College. From nation-wide health infrastructure, medicine, personal hygiene, to transportation, migrant workers, social media, news media and how we consume and interpret public information, and how is education being affected, individual personal/family undergoing changes – Derek O’Brien’s interaction touched upon each of these issues. Making very stimulating observations and presenting them in his impeccable communicative mastery, O’ Brien kept the audience completely mesmerized. A wave of enthusiastic responses and inquiries came from the students too. Two students of the college were awarded rewards for asking very pertinent and thought-provoking questions on the impending crisis. Overall, the online session was a great success as it provided the audience with a vista of new ideas.
