ECOLORE 2023
On May 3, 2023, the Department of Economics organised the inter-collegiate academic fest, Ecolore. This year’s theme was Human Capital and its Role in Sustainable Development in the Post-Pandemic Era.
The keynote speaker was Prof. Saibal Kar, the RBI Chair Professor of Economics at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta (CSSSC) and a Research Fellow of the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) Bonn. Prof. Kar delivered an enlightening lecture titled Human Capital and Self-employment in India: An Empirical Analysis for Different Cohorts.
Students from various colleges across the city enthusiastically participated in the two events of this fest, namely, Pitch the Plight (Paper Presentation) and Words Over Swords (Debate).
Pitch The Plight was judged by Dr Ujjaini Mukhopadhyay and Dr Suparna Gangopadhyay. Jadavpur University bagged the First position, followed by Scottish Church College in Second position and Loreto College in Third position.
Words Over Swords was judged by Mr Pradeep Gooptu and Ms Supriya Newar. The Moderator for the debate was Ms Pallavi Gogoi. Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College won Best Speaker for the Motion and Lady Brabourne College won Best Speaker Against the Motion. Lady Brabourne College bagged the Best Team award for the debate.
The Best College award for Ecolore 2023 was shared by Jadavpur University and Loreto College.
