Academic Orientation for First Year Students Organised by The Department of Geography

Every year the Department of Geography organizes an Academic Orientation for First Year students. Upholding this tradition, the Academic Orientation was organized in the virtual mode on May 18, 2021 on Google Meet. This was an attempt by the senior students of Semesters VI and IV to conduct an event that would help students of First Year to get more accustomed to the functioning of the Department. This year, the programme bore special significance considering the fact that the First Year students have been totally deprived of the opportunity of knowing their teachers and friends face-to-face, within the familiar surroundings of their College. Semester VI Honours presented the findings of their field visit to Kalimpong District in February 2020 under the title, Rural Livelihoods in Transition: The Experience of Sillery Gaon. The field study was a part of the evaluation of the practical course of Semester V Honours. Semester IV Honours debated on the motion Enhanced Agricultural Production is the Key to Human Sustenance.
