A Special Lecture on India's Climate Policy
On September 14, 2024, the Department of Political Science at Loreto College, Kolkata organised a special online lecture on India’s Climate Policy: Critical Assessment of the Climate Policies in Present Era. The lecture, which was delivered by Mr. Sayantan Bandopadhyay, a PhD scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, focused on four key areas: the evolution of India’s climate policies and their growing relevance in contemporary times; a comparative analysis of the climate policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh; the impact of climate policies on India’s domestic politics; and India’s international climate diplomacy strategies and how these policies are reflected in the election manifestos of various political parties. The lecture was followed by a dynamic interactive session, during which Mr. Bandopadhyay addressed queries with clarity. The session was attended by 118 participants, who gained valuable insights into India’s climate policy framework.
