Historia 2024

The Department of History, in collaboration with the History Society of Loreto College, Kolkata, organised its annual inter-college students’ meet Historia on May 16, 2024. The theme for this year’s Historia was ‘Popular Rebellions.’ There were two components to the event: paper presentations and a debate. The paper presentations were judged by Prof. Amit Dey of the University of Calcutta, who was also the keynote speaker. Lady Brabourne College bagged the first prize in the paper presentation segment, while Loreto College came second. The second part of the event was the debate, which was moderated by Shri Pradip Gooptu. The motion for the debate was: “Media plays an important role in the success of popular rebellions.” Loreto College won the debate, with Akshiti Prasad (Department of Political Science, Semester IV) securing the Best Speaker award.
