Department of B.Ed.: Antakshri Competition in different regional languages

B.Ed. teacher-trainees from Loreto College, Kolkata organised and conducted an Antakshri Competition at Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Salt Lake, and Jewish Girls’ School on November 20 and 21, 2023 respectively.

Three teacher-trainees were placed at each school to organise the singing competition for the students, who were encouraged to sing in various Indian regional languages. 48 students of class VII-B from Our Lady Queen of the Missions School and 48 students of class VIII-B from Jewish Girls’ School participated in the Antakshri Competition.

The ingenuity, teamwork, and enthusiasm that the students displayed in incorporating songs sung in languages such as Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, and Gujarati evinced their knowledge and acceptance of linguistic diversity in India. The competition also gave the students an opportunity to work together to showcase their talents in vocalisation, harmonise with one another, and expand their cultural understanding.
