National Sports Day 2023

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Society of Loreto College, Kolkata conducted a Quiz Competition on August 29, 2023 on the occasion of National Sports Day, which is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The event was organized in keeping with this year’s theme: “Sports as an enabler for a fit and inclusive society.” The quiz involved four teams with two members each who competed against each other in three rounds. All the questions were related to Indian sports and the performance of various national teams in international sporting events. The quiz also incorporated the game of “Head, Shoulder, Knees & Cone” to put the reflexes of the participants to test. A number of questions were directed towards the audience to ensure their engagement. After the three rounds, Preethi Mondithoka and Bidisha Singh from the Department of History were declared the winners. The programme ended with the participants and the audience collectively taking “The Fit India Pledge” that was introduced by the Prime Minister of India in 2019.
